On 01 January 2012, St’art became the official partner of a new European project, C-I Factor, which is part of the European Creative Industries Alliance programme of the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Enterprise and Industry.

In the knowledge that the cultural and creative industries (CCI) can find it very difficult to obtain the funding required to grow, C-I Factor aims to try to introduce new instruments in order to generate financing for these sectors.

Based on observations of the behaviour and motivation of traditional investors in relation to CCI and the recommendations made by an advisory board comprising representatives of banks, the Business Angels network and euro-area finance programmes, C-I Factor will trial the introduction of innovative financing methods for these sectors (such as guarantee funds and particularly new business models like crowd funding).

The consortium will also oversee the creation of interactive tools that are designed to give creative entrepreneurs a greater understanding of the language and mindset of investors and thereby increase their chances of obtaining financing.

The same tools could be used to raise the interest of private investment circles in the high added value of CCI.

Running over a three-year period, the C-I Factor project benefits from the expertise of a consortium of European partners specializing in the financing of CCI, namely the European Design Centre (Netherlands), Angel Capital Innovations (United Kingdom), Cultuur-Ondernemen (Netherlands) and St’art (Belgium), and also aims to secure long-term investment from the European Investment Bank and European Investment Fund.
